Motion Study - Liquid Morph Breakdown

A short Motion Design study exploring liquid morph effects, simple typography animation, textured backgrounds, and dynamic smear techniques created in After Effects.

INTRODUCTION

A Motion Design study exploring liquid morphing, simple typography animation, and dynamic background textures. Developed in After Effects using adjustment layers, blur, choker, echo, and minimal shape elements.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Liquids / Morphing

To create the circles and fluid transitions, I used simple shape layers with predefined gradients. The morph effect was achieved through an Adjustment Layer applying Gaussian Blur and Simple Choker, resulting in smooth, organic edges.

Typography

Simple typography animation focused on clean movement, timing, and a smooth visual rhythm aligned with the main motion elements.

To add energy to the movement, I created a "fake smear" using an Adjustment Layer with the Echo effect, simulating motion trails and enhancing the animation’s impact.

Background

The background was built using a rough concrete texture, animated with hold keyframes to create subtle position variations. Final adjustments were made with Levels to darken the texture and emphasize contrast with the animated elements.
